is there now any point

in writing that long overdue story about Kinko’s?

The following quotation

His childhood dreams had been so bright, he had hoped for so much, it couldn’t be true that he was a nobody, although on the other hand, what kind of somebody spends the best years of his life swearing at a photocopier?

is from this source:

Saunders, George. “The Falls.” Pastoralia. New York: Riverhead Books, 2000. 182.

Another poor sap fooled by Mr. Rogers into believing he was “special” just as he was.

    sigh.
    and sigh again.
chris had to get a “print” copy of his resume for a recent interview and had to venture into that great florescent box of toner dust and heartbreak.

The resume was a PDF, from a Mac.
He used a PC, and yes, it wouldn’t print.
Upon searching for help, the co-worker asked him,
“Why don’t you use the Mac?”.
Chris replied, “Well, as you can see, there is currently someone sitting there. And this is a PDF?”
The co-worker told him he didn’t know what to tell him and couldn’t help him anymore.

Upon hearing this story, I experienced first denial, then anger, and finally acceptance that that’s what usually what happens to people when they go to Kinko’s.

Ah well, I say you still write that story.
Who else will tell the long lost saga of Tawa, Mercedes, Lou, Lolita, and LAMAR? Who else but YOU!
